Marine on St. Croix Special Events and Permitting

Marine on St Croix is a vibrant community and historic river town. Festivals and community-based celebrations demonstrate civic pride and spirit, as well as a deep stewardship of the St. Croix River Valley. It is important that events reflect the heritage and vitality of the village, and that they support quality of life for residents and promote hospitality for guests.

 

Permit Needed: Anyone hosting or organizing any of the following must obtain a permit from the City prior to the event:

  • Athletic event (even if it begins or ends in another jurisdiction)
  • Community festival
  • Parade
  • Private event
  • Residential block party (no fee or proof of insurance requirement)

Please refer to the special event definitions in Chapter 26 for specifics.

 

No Permit Needed: Generally, but not exclusively, no permit is required if:

  • Less than 100 people are part of the event,
  • A City right-of-way is not being blocked; and
  • Sound is not being amplified,
  • Or if the event is sponsored by the City or being held by the church or school.

 

Prohibited Events: Short term rentals are barred from hosting events of any kind.
