Ice Rink Unlikely to Open This Winter
January 22, 2024: With the late start to winter, volunteers worked daily over the “cold snap” to get the ice rink ready. However, the extended forecast does not look promising for City efforts to open the ice rink and warming house to skaters. As of now, the next two weeks show temperatures in the mid 30s to mid 40s. We will watch the forecast and continue to monitor conditions, and will notify citizens of any changes to whether the rink will be able to open. Additionally, investment into the future of the rink will be a point of discussion at council due in part to the deterioration of the boards and the school property master plan. For questions or comments, or to join other volunteers that are willing to step up for this community resource, please email Councilmember Anderson at charlie.anderson@cityofmarine.org.
