Buckthorn Buster Day: August 26
When: Saturday, August 26, 10 am - 2 pm. Come when you can and stay as long as you like.
Where: We will be removing buckthorn shrubs and small trees on the hillside between the Stone House Museum (241 5th St) and Highway 95. Please park on 5th Street and access the hillside via the museum property.
Wear: We recommend wearing gloves and sturdy clothing, as buckthorn is known to fight back.
Optional: You're invited to bring brush saws, pruners, buckthorn pullers, etc. We also expect to have some equipment on hand. You may wish to label your tools to avoid confusion.
Details: This continues the great work we started this spring. Buckthorn stumps will be treated with an herbicide. We'll endeavor to do so safely and in a minimal way.
We'll provide light snacks and water. Temps should be lower by the weekend.
Hope to see you there!!
