School Site: Survey and Open House Invitation

The City of Marine on St. Croix is seeking public input on the future management of its largest financial asset: the Marine School building and property. The City purchased the site in 2017 from Stillwater Schools after the closure of Marine Elementary School, following strong community support for taking ownership and maintaining educational uses. The acquisition also brought significant financial responsibilities.

In December 2023, the City Council appointed a volunteer group—the Marine Multigenerational Education District Advisory Committee (MMEDAC)—to develop an initial Site Plan for the property. The committee serves in an advisory capacity and has spent the past year researching and discussing how best to manage the site. The plan will address current uses, leaseholders, infrastructure, zoning, and financial considerations, and provide guidelines for potential future uses.

We invite Marine residents to complete this survey and attend the informational open house on Saturday, October 25, from 1–3 p.m. at the Village Hall. Your input will help inform the City’s decisions about this important community resource.
